Dr. Madhavan has trained extensively in the medical treatment of psychiatric disorders, including a number of psychotherapies.  While his perspective is informed by many theories of how human minds work and suffer, his treatment approach is based on ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy).  ACT is a behavioral therapy that uses a skills based approach to help a person increase their engagement in the aspects of life they find most important and meaningful, despite the presence of painful thoughts, feeling, emotions, memories, and urges.
